Never Dreamed I Could Do It...

Canton Marathon 2012... Never dreamed I could do it... and I didn't... not really... well, sort of... so, I joined a 5-person relay team and ran the second shortest leg... but I did it!  Back in October when I decided to change my life, I still had doubts that I could become a runner.  Cardio is not my friend; I prefer weight training.  And I still wouldn't say that I've become a runner.  3.5 miles is still the longest distance I've ever run.  But I did accomplish something today on my 3-mile leg of the marathon relay - I beat my record 10.57 min/mile with a 10.07 min/mile!  I am pretty darned proud of myself.

When I approached the hand-off to Nichole, Dan and the kids were there to meet me.  The kids ran down and joined me on my final approach.  Today is Father's Day and Dan supported me on his special day!

As our 5th runner, Kaliope, approached the finish line, we all joined her to run across.  Don't look too closely... I look like I have a deformed leg as the fat bounces around on my thigh! LOL!

This is our relay team, the Plastics (yes, from Mean Girls) - Lori, Megan, Kaliope, me and Nichole

All runners got two free Michelob Ultras - couldn't turn those down!

The marathon started downtown at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, so we had a short walk through Monument Park once we parked our car.  Someone was nice enough to paint graffiti on the sidewalks, but one drawing was ironically appropriate!  We had to get a quick picture! :)
